Why are some channels removed from Freedth?

It’s enough, Today we will understand why the channels remove always from Freedth?

As you know DD Freedish is India’s free DTH service. It never charges any subscription fees from the viewers.
But
PB charges subscription fees from the private TV channels for the subscription of the Vacant slot for freedth.

Subscription fees for vacant slots –

Freedth always announces the auction of GSAT-15 vacant slots. so after this announcement or press advertisement is released by PB, then Private TV channels participate in these e-auctions.

Now Private TV channels have to participate and have to bid a higher and higher bidding price to win the channel slot.

PB provides all the information before any e-auction like duration, a minimum bid, and how to participate on the official website.

Why were Private channels removed? –

Doordarshan never adds and removes private TV channels from the freedish platform. It totally depends on the terms of the e-auction.

For example –

if any TV channel (Home TV) won the slot on Freedish for one year, then it will be removed after this period.

Again, the same channel has to participate again in the e-auction, and have to place a high bid for the new slot or renew its slot.

Subscribers can add any pay channel? –

No, All the channels are available on freedish because they won the slot by e-auctions. There is no rights or facility to add or remove channels by FTA subscribers.

Are removed channels may come back in the future?

No Idea, again it totally depends on the television broadcasting company whether they are participating in the next auction or not. If they participate and bid a higher price then the subscriber may get the same channel till the next subscription period.

Only Free-To-Air TV Channels can Participate.

No, lots of PayTV channels are also available on Freedish, for example, “Aaj Tak”, Zee News, and “Sony wah”, etc,  are not free-to-air channels but it is still available on Freedish.

So now you can understand why every year, some TV channels are removed from the Freedish platform and some TV channels join the platform.
