Digital television has finally arrived in Sri Lanka in a bigger and better way. The Freesat DTH service in Sri Lanka has been started on the same lines as DD FreeDish DTH of Bharat. Where you can watch TV channels for free without monthly or yearly charges. However, these TV channels will not be completely free to air.
How is Freesat different?
Sri Lanka’s Free DTH service is largely updated compared to other satellite TV services. That is, it has been launched with new technology where you will get better picture quality and sound than any other DTH.
Freesat Sri Lanka Technology –
This Freesat DTH uses HEVC compression which uses half the bandwidth compared to DVB-S2. And delivers better color and sound than DVB-S2. Through this technology, 4K TV channels can be easily broadcast through satellite.
With HEVC compression, 1 Satellite frequency or Transponder can broadcast up to 68 SD channels.
Freesat DTH Service in Sri Lanka –
The Sri Lankan government will broadcast Sri Lankan TV channels, educational TV channels, digital radio, free-to-air foreign news, and current affairs TV channels, etc., through FreeSat DTH. Educational TV channels also include 13 educational television. To be launched by the Ministry of Education.

How to get it?
For now, you should have a dish antenna installed at 95.0° East. An ordinary DTH antenna can be used in this. You should also have a set-top box that supports HEVC or H.265 satellite video compression, which is the latest technology. In that, you fill in the frequency that is mentioned here and scan it.
